I am thinking this would be an awesome lens to leave on the camera for most situations and keeping the 56 for dedicated portraits or when I need a tad more reach. The XC features the same silent stepping motor as the XF 35mm f2 so it’s fairly capable even when shooting in AF-C mode.

bigger or full resolution to explore on your computer (mobile devices rarely display the full resolution data properly). may be tempted to upgrade once they see there’s not a great deal of difference in out-of-focus rendering between f1. Can you imagine what all those great 50’s and 60’s photographers would think of this constant arguing about which tiny plastic camera is Just Right for Walking or Hiking or Bike riding or a motorcycle trip or whatever one needs the right camera for? Even Sony's much more expensive made-in-Thailand Zeiss lenses are merely thin metal vanity shells over plastic, and nowhere near as well made as this Fujinon lens.

By default then it’s great for portraits and all around shooting, and the Bokeh at this focal length at the maximum aperture of f2 is really nice. The “FUJINON XF 35mm F2 R WR” offers a focal length equivalent to 53mm*1 with the angle of view similar to that of the human eye and a maximum aperture of F2.

This gives the bokeh some character but I’ve also noticed some interesting shape throughout the whole range of the lens. I like to have a 35mm lens in my walk around bag, but I constantly forget to put it in my working bag and only realise when I reach in there for it, and usually when I really need that focal length. Last year I bought an X-Pro1 and reviewed it on this channel, I wanted to be able to judge the camera fairly, so my first lens was the same Fujinon 23mm F2 lens I was already accustomed to with all of the X100 cameras. I think for the general consumer that just wants something that does nice images, they will go for the 50.

When I received my test-copy of the lens the validity of the above 4 main points was of course what I said out to test. I shoot the X-Pro 1 at the moment, do you think there will be much difference in the lens operations with the X-Pro 1?

It’s a great piece of glass that must not be missed, even if this is not your native focal length this lens might just well win you over as it did me. You can see the foreground bokeh gives you a much different character than the background, this also seems to produce more of the Petzval Effect.I used the lens a little on a recent trip to Florida so most of the photos below will be from Disneyworld so I’m sorry about that. One of the better lenses out there in terms of just how close you can get to the lens while still being able to focus.
