Description

It’s not just a book about sex, but a book about the experience of being in our society and inhabiting a female body. For years and years, I’ve lived my life as a woman who has been told about sex and shown about sex from a man’s perspective. For Don’t Hold My Head Down to obtain any sort of international acclaim, which might not even be its goal, readers outside of the UK will have to look past the slang, the uncountable instances of “blimey”, and references they don’t understand to get to the heart of the book.

A breezy, friendly, quietly revolutionary book every woman, young or old, should read, whilst shouting "Oh my God! I read two thirds of this book and found it very interesting, | am 85 but have no idea that such sexual practises were so common in our society. But thankfully, Holmes gave us something that we might need and want—a very real and honest take on the state of female sexuality and an inspiring look at one woman’s journey to claim her sexual experience.I identified very strongly with Lucy's experiences before she went on this journey, and I expect many women will. I loved this book; it’s enlightening, straight from the heart and well pretty much life change going in some ways.

It's a fun read, certainly, but much of it feels (and I accept that it's very easy to criticize) a bit. This book had me laughing out loud, vigorously nodding, and feeling a little sad while wanting to start a complete revolution. Etenkin loppua kohden parani huomattavasti, nautin erityisesti rehellisestä kuvauksesta omasta seksuaalisuudesta raskauden jälkeen. Without Holmes’ Bridget-Jones-esque timbre the book would risk coming off as just another banal think piece about female sexuality or a downright depressing report on the perceptions of female pleasure and bodies. However, apart from the occasional stylistic disagreement (some of the language was a bit twee for me) I thought this was an excellent book, a really good introduction to lots of ideas, and I think I'm going to get my own copy. I would recommend this book to any women who are struggling to find their way or some agency in their sex lives. For many of us, the thought of our mothers as anything besides our mom let alone a sexual being leaves us uncomfortable.

She talks candidly about her sex life and there's quite a bit of detailed description, but importantly much of it is description of how sex makes the author feel, not just the acts themselves. Determined not to let this stop her, Lucy penned a list and set out to discover what her sex life was missing. The book resonated with me on multiple levels, offering a blend of laughter, vulnerability, cringe-worthy moments, and unfortunately, a touch of sadness.Só os conhecendo a fundo saberemos levá-los na direção certa, da forma mais saudável e prazerosa possível.
